SoFlo peeps, please read!
Pavements are often much hotter than the air around them. Hot pavements are dangerous to dogs and can burn their paws.
How the 5 SECOND RULE works:
Place the back of your hand on asphalt. If you can't hold it there for at least 5 seconds,
then it's too hot to walk your dog. Try walking during cooler hours while the sun is rising or setting.
Try to avoid the hottest times of the day to go on walks. Enjoy morning or evening walks instead. Grassy and cooler surfaces are safest in warm temps. Also, ensure your dog has ample access to water.
